Sowunmi Signs!

Bromley Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Omar Sowunmi following a successful trial period.

The 25-year-old defender, who spent pre-season at Hayes Lane, arrives at the Club with bundles of EFL experience having played the majority of his football in League Two.

Sowunmi came through the youth set-up at Ipswich Town before joining Yeovil Town in 2015 where he went on to make a name for himself. Appearing for the Glovers over 80 times, he also took the captain’s armband during the 2018-19 season.

However, after four years at Huish Park, the defender swapped Somerset for Essex, penning a permanent deal at League Two outfit Colchester United in a spell that ended earlier this year.

After signing for the Ravens, Sowunmi expressed his delight as he looks towards the new season: “I’m very happy to have signed with Bromley and start the journey with the team.

“I’ve been here near enough all of pre-season and really gelled with the staff and all the boys.

“It’s been great to be playing in front of the fans and I can’t wait to keep the good results coming in week in and week out!”

Ravens boss Andy Woodman is confident that the Club’s newest recruit is going to be a pivotal addition to the squad: “Omar is a player we’ve had all pre-season, but we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to get him to stay.

“However, he’s been impressed with what he’s seen, he sees what we’re trying to do and he wants to be a part of what we’re trying to create here.

“I think with the way we’re trying to play football, Omar is going to be a really good addition to our defensive unit and in the opposite box too. I’m delighted to have him on board!”

Welcome to Bromley, Omar!
