Stevenson bolsters back line

Bromley Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of Toby Stevenson following his departure from Watford.

The 21 year old can operate anywhere on the left side of defence, predominantly playing as a left-back. He started his career at Leyton Orient on a scholarship, and was also loaned out to Heybridge Swifts to gain first team experience, where he made 23 appearances.

Following his departure from Brisbane Road, he attracted the attention of Charlton Athletic, where he was invited in for a trial. He impressed in a match against Crystal Palace, and was subsequently signed by the Addicks on a professional contract. During his two seasons at the Valley, he would make eight first team appearances, scoring four goals. Three of those would come in the form of a hat-trick in Charlton’s 8-0 EFL Trophy victory against Stevenage. He would also feature in the Club’s U23 side on numerous occasions.

Stevenson would then get his first taste of National League Football with a loan to Dagenham & Redbridge during the 2019-20 season, where he played 12 times, before being recalled by Charlton in January 2020.

At the end of the 2019-20 season, Stevenson left Charlton and moved on to Watford, where he signed a one year contract, and played for the Hornets’ U23 team.

Having been brought in by Andy Woodman as a trialist, Stevenson has done enough to earn a contract at Hayes Lane, and commented: “I’m absolutely buzzing to sign for the Club. I love the direction it’s going in, it’s really exciting for everyone involved. I’m looking forward to working under the manager and help the team achieve great things this season.

I’m a left-back but I can also play as left wing-back and even a left sided centre-back. First and foremost, I love to defend, but also to get crosses in the box. I can’t wait for the season to get started now!”
