SUMMARY: Bromley 1-5 Gillingham

  • Men's

Bromley’s first home pre-season fixture ended in defeat to a strong Gillingham side on Tuesday night.

The Ravens were behind just three minutes in, as Callum Reilly cut in from the right and shot through a crowd of players and into the bottom corner, past the unmoved and unsighted Max Huxter.

One would become two after 19 minutes, as former Bromley man Brandon Hanlan finished off a slick counter attack after a period of Bromley dominance, showing pace and determination to run through most of the Bromley half and finish past Huxter from an angle.

The Ravens did pull one back just six minutes later, as Tomas Holy, who had produced a fins save from an Adam Mekki overhead kick just a minute before, flapped at a cross, and George Porter was on hand to pick up the loose ball and slam it home.

After the break, the Gills would extend their lead just three minutes in once again. This time, Josh Parker was in the right place at the right time to turn and slam the ball home at the near post.

The visitors would grab a fourth goal seven minutes from time, after a defensive mix up presented Elliott List with an opportunity to run through on goal, one on one with Huxter, and he made no mistake, coolly slotting home.

There would be time for one more though, as former Woking winger Regan Charles-Cook picked up a loose ball just inside the box and finished well with a neat volley.
