We took the time out to catch up with loanee defender Harry Kyprianou to talk about his career so far.

Q. Harry, great to have you with us today. You started out as a youth team player at Watford. Please tell us more about how vital that experience was for your development?

A. Thank you. I was at Watford from 8 years old and I spent the best part of 10 years at the club, I left when I was 18. So, it was crucial to my development really. You could say I developed from a boy to a man and I was grateful for the experience that I had with the team.

Q. You then signed for Southend United and even scored on your debut. Please describe to us that feeling?

A. It was amazing! It was a crazy week as I scored on my cup and league debut. It was a really good feeling, having come from Watford to having a moment like that. I feel it was, in a way, my comeback.

Q. How would you describe your playing style?

A. I am a versatile player, I can cover anywhere down the left side of the pitch as well as a few other positions. I am a defender who loves to get forward.

Q. Playing for the Cyprus under 21 national team must have been incredible, what is it like to represent your country?

A. It was a really proud experience. To have been given the opportunity to represent my country was an absolute honour.

Q. What was training like during the Covid-19 pandemic?

A. I worked really hard, as I had just come back from an injury. I trained in the gym whilst also focusing on my technical work and I added running to my routine. It was a busy period for me but I put in the hard work and came back feeling really strong.

Q. How happy are you to be back playing after your recent injuries?

A. Really happy. I missed a lot of football but it’s great to be back now and catching up on lost time.

Q. You made your Bromley debut against Sutton United last week. How welcoming have both staff and players been since your arrival?

A. The staff and the players have been fantastic and I’m very happy to be here.
