Bromley bounced back from last weeks defeat with a great team effort to leave Tottenham with all three points while also picking up their first clean sheet of the season.
Bromley started the game strongly and pressed their opponents high winning the ball back at every opportunity. The first chance of the game fell Bromley’s way after a Jones through ball to Bays allowed her to beat the defender but her shot failed to beat the keeper. Bromley had Higginson in goal to thank for not falling behind as she bravely blocked a close range shot before again saving Bromley from the resulting corner. Bromley did eventually take the lead after a pass back led to an indirect free kick in the box, a lay off from Cundy allowed Cannon to smash the ball into the net from close range.
The second half continued with Bromley defending well as a unit, led by Davies and Gallone in the heart of the defence, which restricted their opponents to long range efforts. Bromley always looked dangerous in attack and Donovon almost added to their lead after good interchanging passes but her shot cannoned off the crossbar. The second goal came after Rusk met a back post corner passing it back across goal for Bays to prod home from three yards. Dyer almost made it three after Bays robbed the keeper but a great defensive block stopped her scoring her first goal for Bromley. With ten minutes to go Higginson was called into action diving low to her right side to turn the ball round the post. In the final few minutes Bromley made it 3-0 as Bays closed down the keeper and came away with the ball, shooting into the goal passed the recovering defender on the line.
Bromley will need to replicate this weeks level of effort and performance in the upcoming games.
