Bromley Football Club are delighted to announce that experienced midfielder Liam Trotter has joined Neil Smith’s squad for the 2020/21 season.
Trotter becomes the first new addition to join the Club following the delayed start to pre-season training at Hayes Lane. The former Millwall man joins having last played football for California based Orange County in the USA.
Having started his career at Ipswich Town, Trotter made his first team breakthrough with the Tractor Boys, before enjoying loan spells with Millwall, Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United.
He then earned a permanent move to the Lions in 2010, where he would go on to spend four seasons, consisting of 138 appearances and 24 goals. During his time with the fellow South London side, Trotter had a short loan spell with Bolton Wanderers, for whom he would sign permanently in 2014.
After 57 appearances and four goals, as well as a short loan stint at Nottingham Forest, Trotter returned south and signed for AFC Wimbledon. He remained with Wimbledon until 2019, where he made the move across the pond to sign for Orange County in the USA.
Neil Smith commented on the signing;
“We were looking to do something with Liam back after Christmas. Unfortunately, COVID-19 affected any potential agreement but I think we made an impression on him at the time. As soon as we were looking for players, he got in contact with us, and it is a major signing for us.”
Liam was quick to express his delight on signing for the Club;
“I’m very happy. It has been a long time coming but with the lockdown everything changed. I’m glad we could get things done and I’m looking forward to the new season.”
