Ravens book their place in FA Trophy semi-final

Goals from Michael Cheek and Olufela Olomola sealed Bromley’s place in the Isuzu FA Trophy semi-final after beating fellow National League side Barnet 2-0 at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens got off to the best start possible when Corey Whitely did well to win the ball before sliding it through to Cheek who calmly slotted home an early Bromley opener from close range.

One could have been two minutes later when Cheek was in the thick of it again, pulling the ball back to Olomola who couldn’t quite find the bottom right corner.

Callum Reynolds, up against his former club, saw a strike from the edge of the box deflect out for a corner as Bromley continued to press on 13 minutes.

The Ravens did have the ball in the net soon after when Cheek thought he bagged his second of the game, but the linesman’s flag denied his double.

Just after the half-hour mark, Reynolds did well to find Ben Krauhaus who set up Olomola who dragged an effort wide of the post.

Up the other end and Grant Smith was called into action to deny Gatlin O’Donkor as the visitors searched for an equaliser just before the break.

With an hour on the clock, Whitely, who bagged a brace at Hayes Lane last weekend, saw a volley saved as Bromley continued their hunt for a second.

That second-goal cushion did eventually come on 67 minutes when Olomola charged through the Barnet defence before smashing home what proved to be the goal that sealed Bromley’s progression to the final four.

Alex Kirk saw a shot saved by Josh Keeley after racing towards goal before Olomola saw a close-range strike saved too before the referee called time in which Bromley’s progression was confirmed.
