Ravens suffer defeat at home to Aldershot

The Ravens’ impressive unbeaten home league run came to an end on Tuesday night, losing 3-2 to Aldershot Town.

It proved to be the perfect start to the game as the Ravens found themselves 2-0 up with only three minutes on the clock. Louis Dennis opened the scoring seconds into the game before Michael Cheek slotted past the Shots ‘keeper to give Bromley an early comfortable lead.

Two nearly became three on 17 minutes when Deji Elerewe did really well to attack the Shots’ defence before fizzing a ball across goal, narrowly missing Cheek at the back-post.

Up the other end and the visitors did have the ball in the net, but it was ruled out for offside.

Just under 10 minutes of the first 45 remaining and Dennis pounced on a defensive error and with a brace in his sights, curled the ball round the ‘keeper, but also round the post too.

Elerewe latched onto a Ben Krauhaus corner just before the break, but his header flew high and wide.

Former Raven Jack Barham pulled one back on 59 minutes before Bes Topalloj saw a volley saved as Bromley looked for a quick response.

Sam Woods came on when the clock struck 60 and almost instantly made it three, but he couldn’t convert a Todd Miller shot from close range.

There was a lengthy stoppage in play as the linesman went down with an injury shortly before Lorent Tolaj equalised with just over 15 minutes remaining.

Bromley would go on to end the game with 10 men as Byron Webster received his marching orders.

Aldershot continued to press and Barham almost added to his tally when he headed over from close range.

The injury to the linesman, plus the red card and substitutes, meant 15 minutes were added on at the end and despite Topalloj’s brilliant effort to win the game, it would be Aldershot who came away victorious. Coby Rowe scoring 14 minutes into stoppage time.

Up next, a trip to Hartlepool on Saturday.
