Report & Reaction: Bromley 1-0 Scunthorpe United

Bromley produced a determined display with 10 men by defeating Scunthorpe 1-0 at Hayes Lane.

The game commenced positively for the Ravens. George Alexander from 20 yards forced Marcus Dewhurst to save comfortably. In the 14th minute, the first chance for Scunthorpe fell to Reagan Ogle. The defender was found unmarked in the box following a Liam Feeney pass and shot wide. A real let off for Bromley.

Harry Forster was causing all sorts of issues for the visitors, this time weaving his way past defenders and making Dewhurst save his effort just outside the box. In the 27th minute, Alexander crossed the ball for Ethan Coleman who shot straight at the keeper inside the penalty area.

As the game reached the half hour mark, Chris Bush received a red card following an altercation with Joe Nuttall, leaving Bromley with 10 men for the rest of the game. Despite the disadvantage, Bromley nearly took the lead as the half was coming to an end. The energetic Alexander produced a great cross into the box for Michael Cheek, the striker scooped the ball over the bar from close range much to the disbelief of everyone at Hayes Lane.

In the second half, despite moments of possession from both sets of teams, Bromley took the lead in the 52nd minute. After a delivery from Forster into the box, from a free-kick, Cheek rose highest to head the ball into the box where Callum Reynolds bundled the ball in from close range.

In the 69th minute, Daniel Gallimore’s shot was expertly saved by Reice Charles-Cook, with the keeper getting down low to his left side. In the 78th minute, Coleman tried his luck from distance, seeing the keeper off his line, but fired wide. Despite all the pressure in the latter stages of the game from Scunthorpe, Bromley held on for a great win and their fourth clean sheet in a row.
