Bromley Ladies 0-1 Hampstead

  • Women's

Rebecca Bays reports on the Bromley Ladies latest fixture, a 1-0 defeat at Hampstead.

Hampstead had started the season well with 2 wins and sat at the top of the table before the game. The game was closely contested and Bromley feel unlucky to have lost the game.

Hampstead’s main threat in the first half came from corners but Higginson commanded her penalty area well, catching and punching balls away. Bromley attacks frequently went down the right with Robertson and Bays combining well, resulting in chances for Rafferty and May who were denied by the goalies double save. Rafferty also had a long range shot well saved by the keeper. Bromley came closest to scoring when a cross from the left by Spinks was reached by Bays who saw her attempt to divert the ball goal-wards hit the inside of the post and spin back into the goalies hands. In the build up to the Hampstead goal Bromley felt unlucky not to be awarded a free kick but the striker ran onto an long ball and found a way pass an impressive Higginson in goal.

The second half became scrappy with Hampstead defending deep and attacking on the counter. Bromley had long range efforts but could not convert possession into goals.

Player of the match – Kristy Higginson
