Bromley Ladies 1-4 Enfield Town

  • Women's

Bromley started their home league campaign with a disappointing performance and result against Enfield.

The visitors went 2-0 up in the opening fifteen minutes after a sluggish start from Bromley. Enfield opened the scoring after breaking the offside trap with the striker through one on one before rounding Higginson in goal. It was soon two after a defensive mix up allowed Enfield to once again break on the Bromley goal where the ball found the bottom corner of the goal. Bromley came to life and almost reduced the deficit straight away with Robertson’s cross goal shot narrowly missing the far post. Bromley did get a goal back before half time after a defence splitting ball was put into her own net by the Enfield defence.

Bromley started brightly in the second half but struggled to find the final pass as they looked to threaten the Enfield goal and were restricted to long range efforts. Enfield made it 3-1 with a counter attack down the right which resulted in a scramble in the box before the ball was pocked home. Bays went closest to scoring for Bromley with two headers from consecutive corners cleared off the line. Spinks, Lecomber and Robertson also had chances but with Bromley chasing the game Enfield added a forth in the final moments of the game, heading home after a corner had been partially cleared by the defence. Bromley were made to pay for their lack of possession and clinical finishing.
