Bromley Ladies 2-2 Clapham Rovers

  • Women's

In a game which was tightly contested by both teams it was Bromley who had the early chances.

Bays had a shot rebound off the post after Rusk won the ball in the air before Bays was again denied by the woodwork after meeting a deep corner from Donovan. Bromley went close a third time as Rafferty drove into the box but fired her effort over the bar.

Clapham took the lead against the run of play as they pressed the Bromley defence who were trying to play out from the back, the ball fell kindly to the striker who made no mistake one on one. Clapham finished the first half strongly seizing on Bromley’s drop in confidence and almost made it two but the goal was ruled out.

Bromley regrouped at half time and came out attacking from the start but Clapham continued to look threatening on the break. Higginson in goal did a good job of organising the defence and collecting crosses and through balls. Bromley equalised after a cross was fired across the six yard box by Bays before the defender under pressure from Donovan turned the ball into her own net. Clapham again took the lead after their striker seized on hesitancy in the Bromley defence but with five minutes to go Bromley broke from a corner and Rafferty held the ball up well before being brought down inside the box to win a penalty. Bays stepped up and converted from the spot. Both teams continued to attach in the final minutes but the game finished level and a draw was a fair result.
