Bromley Women beat Hastings United 8-0 at Hayes Lane

On a beautiful day full of the promise of Spring, Bromley FC Women hosted Hastings United at Hayes Lane. Both teams have shown good form lately so an exciting match was anticipated. In front of the highest league crowd this season, Bromley started proceedings and there was a pretty even start for both sides. A few chances came to nothing with a few offside calls and nothing to trouble either ‘keeper. Bromley then went on the attack. Beth Hull had an on-target shot tipped over for a corner.

The 14th minute corner from Hannah Paige hit the far post and went in for the first goal. Bromley, on a high, scored again a minute later. Following a great run, Jade Davenport passed the ball to Hull, onwards to Charlotte Lee and back to Hull who doubled the lead.

Bromley came out strongly for the second half, making a big impact with two quick goals. Phoebe Murton scored in the 48th minute before a couple of minutes later, Bryony Hart ran and passed to Lee who set up Murton for the fourth goal.

A couple of minutes later, the ball was in the back of the net again but the whistle had already been blown for offside. A Hastings cross was then knocked out for a corner which Megan Taylor caught decisively.

A couple of Bromley chances were stopped; Davenport had her shot punched out and shortly after Taylor, the Bromley shot-stopper, made a great save.

Bromley made changes to the team and came out immediately with an attack.Hull scored again, with Bromley’s fifth on the hour mark. The sixth goal was set up by debutant, Courtney Cook for Murton to get her second hat-trick in as many games.

Hastings were awarded a free-kick following a yellow card to Emily Symonds. It was struck well to clear the Bromley wall, but was ultimately safely caught by Taylor.

Bromley continued to press and following a good run, Davenport scored to make it 7-0 to Bromley. Lee, the Bromley captain, was to have the last word scoring in the 94th minute to make the final score 8-0.
