FA Plate: Anchorians 3-6 Bromley Ladies

  • Women's

Bromley started the defence of their Kent FA Plate in a repeat of last years semi final that also needed extra time to find a winner. Bromley took the lead when Spinks and Baker worked a throw in well, finding Bays who flicked the ball through to Holley who one on one beat the keeper to open her account for the season. She almost doubled the lead with a back post header after a fine run and cross from Robertson. Bromley again without first choice keeper had an outfield player in Donovan goal and it was a mix up in defence that allowed Anchorian’s back into the game.

In the second half Anchorian’s started well and took the lead after a cross was scrambled home at the back post. Bromley responded well and Bays drew them level after Stowell and Holley played her in to beat the keeper. Bays got her second 5 minutes later when Bromley won the ball from a Anchorian’s goal kick allowing the her to score from the edge of the box. Despite some excellent defending Anchorian’s ensured extra time scoring direct from a free kick from the edge of the box despite Donovans full length dive.

In extra time Holley did get her deserved second goal when she was alert at the backpost to tap in after a scuffed shot from Bays. Edwards then won a penalty which Bays converted to complete her hat trick. Edwards got in on the goal scoring action to get her first goal for the club in her debut season inn the last minute, cooling slotting past the keeper.
