In a game which features 4 players making their debut for Bromley Ladies, the team was keen to make amends for a defeat here last season.
It was the home team however who started the brighter without creating any clear cut chances. Bromley grew into the game and had shots from the edge of the box from Robertson and Stratton-Jones. Bromley came closest to opening the scoring when Rusk intercepted well on the edge of the Hackney area and played in Holley who’s shot from the left hand side of them area beat the keeper but went narrowly wide of the post.
Bromley started the second half with better tempo and Rafferty went close to a goal after being played through by Bays but the keeper saved well, with Robertson only able to shoot over under pressure from the rebound. Bays then had a chance when the ball fell to her inside the box but was only able to send the half volley over the bar. Bromley pressure finally broke a resolute Hackney defence when Spinks played in Bays down the right who drove into the box before passing to Rafferty who found the back of the net with a powerful right foot strike. Hackney pressed for an equaliser without forcing Higginson in goal into making a save. The second goal came as Bays won a header which found Rafferty 30 years from goal who lobbed the keeper to mark her debut with 2 goals. This was a good team performance against a strong Hackney team.
Player of the match – Emma Stratton-Jones
