Bromley Ladies kick started what will hopefully be another cup run with a convincing win over Ashford Angels in the Kent FA Plate which also saw Lecomber and Cundy open their goal accounts for Bromley.
Bromley dominated from the opening minutes and Dyer almost opened the scoring within five minutes but her shot cannoned off the crossbar. Ashford’s goal was under threat again but Bays’ header from Robertson’s corner also hit the woodwork. The deadline was broken when a corner from the other side taken by Donovan was headed home by Bays despite the defenders attempt to clear on the line. Cundy then made it two for Bromley, Donovan flicking on a goal kick to Bays who squared the ball to Cundy who fired home from just inside the box. It soon became three when Morris played a ball over the top and Bays broke the offside trap to run through on goal and lob the advancing keeper. Gallone almost got her first for the season going close with two driving free-kicks. It was Cundy on the score sheet again to make it 4-0 meeting a low cross from Bays on the slide and steering the ball past the keeper. An own goal then made it 5-0, the Ashford defenders attempted block diverted the ball into her own net. Bays completed her hat trick just before half time when Cundy repaid the assist with a low cross to the edge of the box which Bays duly dispatched past the keeper.
Bromley made changes in the second half but continued to press for goals. Donovan was brought down inside the box just as she was striking the ball but Robertson was unable to convert the resulting penalty. Cundy completed her hat-trick by meeting a downward header from Lecomber and ensured it crossed the line by poking home from close range. Lecomber opened her account after being played through by Dyer and beating the keeper one on one. With ten minutes to go she got her second of the match with a similar goal this time being played through by Cundy.
Bromley’s second round opponents have yet to be confirmed but the game will take place on 20th November.
