Women’s team net seven on Sunday

Winter returned this weekend to make for a very cold Sunday afternoon. On form Bromley dominated the match to come in with another fabulous win.

Herne Bay started proceedings with both teams looking evenly matched for the first few minutes. A great run from Charlotte Lee soon changed that as she hit the back of the net for Bromley’s first goal.

Herne Bay had a chance, but the ball hit the post. Around the 20 minute mark, Lee passed to Beth Hull and her shot was pushed out for a corner. Play continued in that area with the pressure on and good possession by the Bromley team.

The second goal came following a strong run from Hull who set up Jade Davenport to launch the ball into the back of the net on the 25th minute. Herne Bay had a chance, but this was intercepted well by the Bromley defence.

Olivia Woollacott struck a great ball into the top right corner for Bromley’s third goal. Hull then had an on-target shot caught before some great play between Frankie Mardon, Mercedes Bromfield and Amy Taylor led to corner. Although this came to nothing, there was no stopping the attacking play from Bromley. Just before the break, Courtney Cook scored her first goal for Bromley making it 4-0 at half time.

Bromley started the second half well. A confident display saw the team make space and create some good chances. In the 59th minute, Hull’s pass to Lee was crossed back to her to make it five goals for Bromley.

The next goal came from the penalty spot. Lee was brought down, she took the penalty and confidently made it 6-0 before Bromley’s final goal came following a good run; Emily Symonds passed to Maddie Bone who sent over a lovely cross which was tapped in by a Herne Bay player for an own goal.

The final score reflected how well the whole team played together, keeping possession of the ball and giving few chances to Herne Bay resulting in a fabulous 7-0 win for Bromley.

Bromley now face Eastbourne United on Sunday at Hayes Lane (3pm KO). You can buy your ticket here.
