Youth Section Update

  • Youth

Alton Francis brings us an update from the Youth Section…This season has saw a revamp of members following a successful 2014/15 season which saw our Under 13’s and Under 18’s pick up the Kent County Cup. In the league our Under 14’s, 16’s and 18’s all had third place finishes while our Under 15’s finished eighth. The most successful side in the youth Section were our newest team, the Under 13’s, who won both the league and Kent County Cup. The new season commenced in September with four newly appointed managers at Under 13, 15, 16 and 18 levels along side newly appointed committee members in important administrative roles. The Youth Section is represented at all age groups in the well organised Kent Youth League which is known as the best competition for youth football in Kent.

The season so far…

Under 13: Managed by first team goalkeeping coach Glyn Shimmell the team have adapted well in their first season playing 11-a-side football and currently sit seventh in the league and currently have cup fever! Having narrowly missed out on becoming double finalists, having been knocked out of the league cup, all focus turns to the Kent County Cup final having progressed thanks to a 4-2 win on penalties over Vinters FC. The young Ravens will face Dartford FC on Sunday 6th March. With cup success comes a backlog of games and the

Under 13 side will be looking to climb the table with two games in hand over surrounding teams. Under 14: Last seasons double winners have reached two quarter finals but unfortunately were knocked out both times by Welling United. Currently fifth place in the league at the halfway mark

Under 15: Returning to Bromley after a year out, Liam Plumb’s side are currently league leaders and are in the semi final of the Kent County Cup where they will face Holmesdale FC at the end of February.

Under 16: Our side currently six third from bottom and had a change of manager at the end of October. Tony Henry has taken charge for the season and despite current results expects to climb up the ladder and enjoy a better 2016!

Under 18: Our side, which finished third last season as Under 16’s, had a number of players join the Academy this year. This led to the rebuilding of the squad in order to challenge for the league title. Currently top of the division and guaranteed at least a second place spot they also have a quarter final tie coming up in the Kent Invitation Midweek Cup.

So all in all an exciting second half of the season coming up!
