Youth Academy: Under 15’s reach JPL Trophy final

  • Youth Academy

Bromley welcomed Bridgwater to Hayes Lane for their semi final match up. The teams started the game strongly, the pace fast and frantic. Both sides were creating chances but were ultimately unable to take them, until Archie Burnett beat two players and fired at goal from a matter of yards, managing to score from the rebound. However, Bridgwater got a deserved equaliser from the spot not long after, with Kealan dispatching a penalty confidently. Despite numerous efforts from the Bromley forwards, visiting goalkeeper Jacob produced save after save to ensure the scores were level at the break.

The second half started with Bromley on the front foot and they took the lead with a penalty of the own; Henry calmly rolling the ball into the corner of the net. Following that, Riley’s wonderful pass found Umaru at the centre of the box, and he finished expertly into the top corner to make it 3-1. Luke then added a fourth thanks to Will’s cut back, before Edgar then turned scorer himself, sending a curling, left footed drive into the bottom corner after receiving a pass from Henry.

Bridgwater staged a late push and were rewarded, as Joshua Lukins reduced the deficit from the penalty spot, before Hayman nipped in front of the Bromley goalkeeper and volleyed home from a few yards out. Bromley managed to hold on though, to go through to the final thanks to a 5-3 win.
