Youth Academy update: Saturday 9th March

Our Youth Academy sides returned to action at the weekend as another round of JPL fixtures commenced.

Starting with our U12 Boys and a tight game resulted in a 3-1 defeat against South Park. Elliot Morris wrote his name on the scoresheet as Rhueven Luta won every duel, made many interceptions and claimed an assist from centre-back as he won the Player of the Match award.

It was a happier outcome for our U14 Girls who narrowly beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1. It was a great test for the girls who started very positively, scored early on only to be pegged back to 1-1 a couple of minutes later. Wimbledon applied pressure for a lot of the second quarter which the Ravens stood firm & defended well. In the second half, the girls took control of the game and managed to win a penalty shortly into the third quarter, slotting it home to make it 2-1. The Ravens could’ve made it three moments before the final whistle if it wasn’t for an outstanding save from the Wimbledon keeper. Elsa Rock and Isla Mason netted for Bromley whilst Martha Beadle put in a Player of the Match performance, running her socks off and was composed and defended well when needed. The defence were very solid on the day too.

As for our U15 Boys, they beat Soccer Elite 4-1. All four of our goals came in a dominant first half performance, with two of those being scored by Kayden Scannell from our U14’s. Tommy Doyle and Jake Fowler also netted for Bromley as Jack Denton put in a Player of the Match performance, covering every blade of grass. One game left of the season for this group.

Our U16 Boys also enjoyed that winning weekend feeling, beating Slough 4-3. Trailing 2-0 at the break, the lads came out a different team with high intensity and willingness to turn the game around. Form hasn’t been as consistent recently but the boys showed another side to their game this week and managed to take all three points. Jedd Hobbs bagged a brace whilst Freddie Sinclair and Ethan Wright also netted.

One of the results of the weekend came in our U16 Girls game as they beat AFC Sudbury 6-1 in a superb win which could’ve been more with the girls spurning quite a few chances. The girls are coming into really good form to finish the season. Ava Killaly bagged four whilst Dotty Blagden and Ruby Birch also scored.

Well done to all of our JPL sides at the weekend!

As ever, a huge thank you to Group LK and Glemnet for their continued support.
